Philip Patton, the visionary behind peejmudd, has quietly forged a unique path in instrumental music, crafting cinematic post-rock and ambient soundscapes from his base in Chico, California. His musical journey began long before peejmudd's 2010 inception, rooted in a lifelong passion for atmospheric sound and composition.
Early in his career, Philip honed his craft in diverse musical landscapes. Notably, he played guitar in the Humboldt County based Ska band The Half Pints, was briefly a church organist, played piano with an orchestra and jazz band, and released self recorded music on cassette tapes as Eisegesis.
In 2010, peejmudd emerged as Philip's primary artistic outlet, allowing him to explore deeply personal themes through instrumental narratives. His first EP, 2013's A Subtle Beginning, mixed instrumental and vocal songs together, walking the line between Indie and Post-Rock. After that EP, Philip decided to make peejmudd completely instrumental, and any songs with vocals would be released instead under the moniker Sad Bastard Music.
His compositions are often born from moments of introspection, reflecting on life's profound emotional experiences without the need for words. As an artist, Philip is driven by the desire to create music that serves as a backdrop for listeners' own contemplations, offering a space for reflection and connection. This dedication to crafting evocative and authentic soundscapes has allowed peejmudd to resonate with audiences globally, earning consistent recognition on streaming platforms and in music publications.
